I got a link to a pretty good Firefox extension: gridfox, which enables "grid display".

Another good thing to try: MysqlFS, a FUSE Mysql filesystem backend. Take a look at: http://www.linux.com/feature/127055. For those how installed apache webservers, It worth reading that.
